Welcome!
Let’s get creative…

I’m Laura Hurkett, a Drama Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor with over a decade of experience supporting people through life’s most challenging moments. I am registered and accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
I opened Bristol Dramatherapy Ltd in 2016, after years of working both clinically and therapeutically in hospitals, schools and wellbeing centres, to create space for people of all ages to feel safe to explore who they are without pressure. I have been honoured to have extensively supported individuals and groups through grief, loss, self harming behaviour, anxiety, trauma, life changes and personal development, to name but a few areas and issues.
My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative, putting focus on how each individual perceives their inner and outer world, in order to make lasting change to unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
You may have heard the saying, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’; Creative therapies focus on exploration and communication beyond what language can provide, rather than if someone is ‘artistic’ or ‘creative’. Images and stories can often say what words can’t explain or are too painful to say, which is why creative therapies can offer a more distanced approach for those who feel unable to speak their personal stories, or explore different ways of looking at the world. In the creative therapy space, being ‘good’ at art or creativity has no benefit (it’s simply not why we do it), however freedom to express yourself through a variety of creative mediums without fear of judgement certainly does!
So feel free to explore the site to find out more about my practice and availability to see if it could be a good fit for you or someone you care about, contact me if you have any questions, or book a free, introductory chat here.
Warmest wishes,
